While every brand is chasing the athleisure trend, one overlooked category quietly built a $25 million business: dance sneakers.
Fuego saw what everyone else missed.
Founder Kevin Weschler realized traditional dance shoes worked great in the studio—but looked out of place everywhere else.
So he asked a simple question:
Why can't one pair of shoes work for both dancing and everyday life?
That idea created a new category: Dance Sneakers.
The goal was simple: one pair of shoes for dancers, anywhere.
The challenge?
No matter what style you dance, you need two things: smooth spins and stable landings.
Fuego solved both by adding two custom pivot points to the outsole, letting dancers spin easily while keeping enough grip and support when they stop.
It's basically a performance dance shoe disguised as an everyday sneaker.
So how do you market a niche product like this?
Fuego didn't focus on specs.
Instead, they flooded TikTok and Instagram with real-world demos—dancers spinning on sidewalks, parks, and marble floors, proving the shoes work almost anywhere.
Then they built credibility from the top down.
They partnered with industry icons like Dancing with the Stars champion Derek Hough, then expanded through dance instructors and everyday creators who wore the shoes in classes and videos while sharing discount codes.
That's how Fuego turned a niche product into a must-have inside the dance community.
