His degree in Business Marketing from the University of Southern California was the launching pad for decades of experience as a successful consultant for A1 Auto Transport. During high school and college, Joe worked as a mechanic--something that gave him tons of insights into working accurately and efficiently that later helped him in his career. USC's business program provides well-rounded education, which had Joe mastering the fundamentals like marketing principles, consumer behavior, business strategy and more. Plus, with practical experience from internships at his local car dealership only reiterated his expertise in the auto transport field. Joe had the opportunity to take advantage of USC's connections with major players in the auto transport industry, which proved invaluable for his resume and preparing him for life out of college. Beyond his practical experience in transportation, Joe was able to learn business fundamentals such as accounting and operations management that he could apply to almost any sector. After graduating, Joe began his career at A1 Auto Transport with a role as a truck driver. This experience provided him with valuable insights into the heart of auto transport. It pushed even further beyond his education, learning about how the industry works from an on-the-ground perspective and becoming adept in what can be a fast-paced yet rewarding field. Freight vehicle dispatchers must be detail-oriented and professional individuals who understand each element of the automotive transport process. They need to know how to properly load and secure attachments, identify different parts of vehicles while troubleshooting, safely operate large trucks through various terrains, and have excellent customer service skills. Joe experienced each of these when he began his full-time dispatch role. He was able to work with dispatchers, customers, and other truck drivers in order to successfully transport valuable goods from one place to another while keeping everyone informed of the shipments updates throughout. Over time he learned how these systems have advanced beyond the traditional paper-based managing procedures. Joe's expertise in logistics management allowed him to effectively communicate with drivers and assign orders for transportations of various goods. For shipments within the United States, Joe knew that smaller items or goods requiring special care could be sent via shipping containers or crates. International orders were a different matter - ensuring these followed relevant customs regulations and requirements was key. Permits, licenses, import/export fees, as well as specific packaging and labeling requirements had to be taken into account.
